At age 18, you legally become an adult; however, that does not necessarily mean that one can enjoy all American adult’s privileges. Driving a car, voting, buying lottery tickets and cigarettes, and being able to enlist in the military are some of the privileges of an 18-year-old as well as some newly gained opportunities. However, 18-year-olds are not legally allowed to drink alcohol preventing them from entering bars and strip clubs. Unfortunately, now they can visit a strip club due to a major change at The Ultimate Place 2 B. Recently, the Howard County Alcoholic Beverage Board & Tobacco Commission decided to revoke owner Dan Dumoulin II’s liquor license because the board felt that he was unfit to hold a liquor license. Based upon rumors, Dumoulin now plans to offer fully nude entertainment at The Ultimate Place 2 B, which he now calls a “juice bar”. According to the Kokomo Tribune, Dumoulin said, “If you’re 18 years old you can go to war, but you can’t go see adult women naked. Now they can thanks to Mayor Matt McKillip.” In my personal opinion, 18-year-olds should not be allowed to go to this so called “juice bar”. For those of you who are not familiar with the concept of juice bars, it is defined as a fully nude strip club that does not offer alcohol because of state laws or a revoked liquor license. I believe strip clubs are not any different from internet pornography other than the viewers are watching it live. Also, it can easily become an addicting behavior and create promiscuity. Eighteen year olds are too young to start becoming involved in this type of immoral lifestyle. Research proves that at age 18, the brain is not fully developed causing teens and young adults not to think thoroughly often causing them to make rash and irresponsible decisions. Now instead of hanging out at football or basketball games on Friday nights 18-year-old students will now have the opportunity to go party at The Ultimate Place 2 B. Although, The Ultimate Place 2 B does not act as the only strip club in Kokomo, it is the only strip club that allows 18-year-olds. According to the Kokomo Tribune after losing his liquor license Dumolin wouldn’t comment on his plans for The Ultimate Place 2 B but he did voice, “It’s not what I wanted to do. I told you guys there are other options I can do that’s a whole lot worse.” Dumoulin’s immoral reputation leaves parents wondering what his most recent project, the new skating rink and how it will compare to Dumoulin’s other business adventures.
